International Senior Board Appointment at YANMAR: INTERNATIONAL SENIOR BOARD APPOINTMENT AT YANMAR
Dutchman Geert Jan Mantel is to be appointed to a senior board position of managing director with Japanese multinational Yanmar Co Ltd at the end of June. Mr Mantel,has been a board member at Yanmar since 2009, the only non-Japanese national to have held such a post, and will continue as president of Yanmar Europe at Almere The Netherlands, a position he has held since 2002.
Educated at the Royal Netherlands Naval Academy, Mr Mantel was a warship captain before entering the heavy sea transport business at Wijsmuller Group as a general manager. He was to become president at International Construction Equipment B.V. member of Geveke Group, then president at Deutz Benelux B.V., the large-capacity diesel engines specialist, before moving to Yanmar.
Yanmar, celebrating its one hundred year anniversary this year, has a global workforce of over 15,000 and a sales network operating in more than 130 countries. Diesel engines, accessories and finished-equipment are designed and manufactured for wide-ranging applications in pleasure and commercial marine, industrial use, agricultural machinery, construction equipment and co-generation power systems. The company has pioneered clean emissions technology and sustainable energy systems.
In Europe, Yanmar employs around 600 people and generates annual sales of approximately Euro 800 million
